from being a teenage girl to a young woman

WITH LAUREN WEIDAMENN

WHO IS SHE? Lauren is a current sophomore at Emerson College studying Business of Creative Enterprises and is heavily involved in the student theatre scene. Recently she co-directed 13: The Musical along with being an exemplary student and an even more above and beyond classmate, listener, and friend to anyone lucky enough to get to know her.

As I was deciding who to interview for this project, Lauren was the first one to pop up in my mind for a multitude of reasons. However, the biggest one is the fact that she understands, quite eloquently I might add, what it means to be a girl—and directly, a woman. She is powerful, strong, confident as well as sensitive, soft, caring, and emotional. Elements that are not typically synonymous with each other in the realm of femininity but make up the true foundation for it. That of which Lauren understands entirely.

Rather than writing our her perception of girl/womanhood and the transition it procures in college, I wanted you to hear directly from her on her thoughts and feelings towards it. Below are audio files of her responces for you to explore and enjoy. Who knows, you may hear your own voice in her words and find comfort in them…

After all, that’s what this is for.
